With the launch of the LinkUS Mobility Initiative, COTA, in partnership with MORPC and the City of Columbus, has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select a professional planning/engineering consultant to lead an East-West Corridors Plan. This is the second corridor project that is being addressed and work will be coordinated with the Northwest Corridor initiative already underway. The selected consultant will complete a detailed study of design and alignment options for a new high capacity transit line and related infrastructure improvements. The project will consist of three geographies:
- West Broad Street from Galloway Road on the west to Downtown Columbus
- East Main Street / East Broad Street, from Downtown Columbus to the Franklin County boundary
- Downtown Columbus connection area
The project will include extensive stakeholder and community engagement in each of the geographies, including each of the townships and municipalities along potential alignments. The study is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2020 and take 18-24 months to complete.
The Request for Qualifications can be found here.
